Carey was 5'10 in height when she became a top model. She was a popular model with American fashion designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. Her father is an accomplished geologist, who was awarded Scientist of the Year back in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was educated across the globe because of her father's career. When she finished her studies at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started modeling on the side. The idea caught the attention of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. In 1980, she moved to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris as well as Bordeaux and then returned back to New York in order to continue the modeling profession. The model was featured on Vogue and Glamour covers. While modeling she also studied literature full time in New York University. Then she became interested in acting, and began studying in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She began her acting career through a tiny role in 'Club Paradise" in 1986, starring Robin Williams. She is a rock climber, skiing, and windsurfing.
